Observing the world of renewable energy and sustainable living

IAE data 2011

Every year the International Energy Agency publishes energy statistics from a high level viewpoint, this year also as an iPad app. The IAE supplies data about energy production, consumption, prices, emissions, etc., etc., in a document of 82 pages, filled with graphs and tables. We highlighted one graph, the one shown above, about TPES (Total Primary Energy Supply). It shows where the world got its energy from, both in 1973 as well as 2010. We will remember that 1972 was the year in which the world was rocked by the Club of RomeLimits to Growth bombshell. Since then everyone knows that fossil fuel is finite. It is depressing to see that in 38 years the share of “other sources” has increased with an extremely meager 1%. It is difficult to illustrate the gravity of the energy sitution more intens than this.
