Energy Slaves – part 2

Previously we wrote about the concept of energy slave, without realising that the picture of tens of people in red shirts on hometrainer-like bikes were from a BBC program “Bang Goes the Theory“. There is hardly a better way of illustrating the privileged position of modern western man in history than this. Try to grasp this a: the only reason why modern society does not have human slaves is because we have an energy infrastructure based on fossil fuels and **NOT** because we are morally superior than, say Romans or pre-1850 Americans. An average modern American has no less than ca. 150 virtual human slaves silently working for him in the background. After watching this program you will never take energy for granted any more.
