Storing solar power


Rather than feeding excess solar generated power into the grid, a franco-german project succeeded in increasing “own consumption” by 26%. Lithium-ion batteries with a useful storage capacity of 6 kilowatt-hours and about the size of a normal household freezer are the centerpiece of the system.

    The misconception nowadays is that solar energy is lost in the same day that the clouds roll in. And in most cases, this is not true.
